FashionDB is a database of publicly available information about fashion-industry professionals — the shows they walk, the agencies that represent them, and measurements published by those agencies. This policy explains what personal data the site collects, why, how it is stored, and the choices you have.
Face lookalike tool (/identify)
When you upload a photo to the lookalike tool, it is used for one purpose: computing a numerical face representation (an "embedding") with face-recognition models that run on FashionDB's own servers. No third-party service receives the photo. The embedding is compared against embeddings of publicly available photos of fashion-industry professionals to find visually similar faces. The original uploaded photo is not stored on our servers — it is processed in memory/temporary storage and deleted immediately after the comparison completes, and the computed embedding of your photo is not retained. If you are logged in, a small thumbnail of the uploaded photo and the top match are saved to your account's identification history, and entries from this history can appear in the site's public "Recent Identifications" feed. If you are logged out, your history is stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and never on our servers. You can delete your identification history at any time from the /identify page; deletion removes it from our servers and from the public feed.
Model applications (/become-a-model)
If you submit a model application, the information you provide — contact details, date of birth, measurements, social handles, experience, and photos — is stored in FashionDB's database and file storage. It is used solely to evaluate the application and to contact you about modeling opportunities, and it is visible only to FashionDB administrators (it is not published on the site). Applications are retained until you delete them or ask us to delete them. Applicants under 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian; applications from minors are deleted on request of the minor or their parent/guardian. You can delete your application from the Data Deletion page.
Accounts (/join)
Registration collects a username, email, and password (stored hashed by our authentication system). This information is used only for signing in and for account features such as tracked lists and identification history.
Server logs
Like most websites, our servers keep standard technical logs of requests to help operate and secure the site.
Cookies and localStorage are used for authentication and to remember UI preferences. They are not used for advertising, and the site contains no advertising trackers.
We use your data only for the purposes described above. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use advertising trackers. The public "Recent Identifications" feed may display thumbnails from the identification history of logged-in users, as described above.
You can access and delete your data. Model applications and identification history can be removed through the Data Deletion page, and identification history can also be cleared from the /identify page.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
